Elections 2012 - No, 20% of French do not support Marine Lepen

Presidential Results 2012: Beware of numbers!

As in every election, the results fall, and they are represented as percentages of the votes cast. So we see on our big screen HD a result of 20% for Marine Lepen. Some people then began to think that 1 in 5 is French National Front sympathizer. What seems very disturbing, but what is especially wrong!

You have to put this 20% in context: In fact, there are 20% of French voters (45 million to 65 million French), among those who vote (80% of those 45 million, or 36 million) which Marine Lepen voted.

Approximately 7.2 million French, that is about 11% of the total population.

We can therefore ashamed of the score of the candidate of the extreme right, but we must not take this 20% for what they are not.

Here is a graph showing the results of the election, taking into account the non-voters and abstentions:

All numbers quoted here are approximate and based on estimates Ipsos results to 20h on 22/04. Base: 65 million French, 45 million voters

Some nice blogs BD

In speaking with some colleagues, I realized that none of them regularly consulted blogging BD. Yet when I've shown them some, they immediately become fans!

Hence this post in which I will present those I consult regularly:

  1. Boulet . The BD incontournable.L blog author settles on his blog "notes", planks of a page (sometimes longer) telling stories about his daily life. It's often very funny, sometimes with the added touch of philosophy. The author tested various graphic styles, the result is usually successful. A visit once a week.
  2. Martin Vidberg . This school teacher described the news, at a rate of about one bubble per day comic. Simple and effective! The graphic style is very entertaining in itself: all the characters are shaped potato, of "potato". Each personality (Show-business or politics) has its caricature "patatisée." A visit once a day.
  3. Marion Montaigne . This blogger, in his blog "you will die less stupid", explains science through a zany character, Professor mustache (which is a girl with a mustache). From fun boards, it is possible to learn some very interesting things. The author often travels to meet researchers about their work places, and sources are always quoted in his notes. We can only regret the low frequency of releases! A visit once a month.
  4. Navo . This guy is behind the biggest scam of the business of comics in recent years. And he boasts. He invented the comic strip not (BPD for short) , ie a comic strip without drawing ...! Only bubbles, boxes of 3. The concept may sound stupid, yet the result is often very funny. However, very hard (not for the sensitive). Note that the author is also part of a group of stand-up (at Jamel Comedy Club), named fuck Club, worth the trip every Monday evening in Paris!

That is, if you know you also to discover comics blogs, I'm interested in the comments! :)

Go out to bars and nightclubs in Las Vegas

In May 2009, I spent three nights in Las Vegas. I thought I had time to do a little poker, test slots and possibly nightclubs. In fact, the latter proved to be so awesome that I have done nothing!

For information, each hotel in Las Vegas (among large, like the Bellagio, the MGM, the Cae sars Palace, Luxor, etc..), You can usually find a casino (poker / slot machines / wheels), a dance bar and a nightclub. If you do well, early evening, the streets of Las Vegas, you can get free tickets for any of the various hotels!

In three nights, we could test with five pals different clubs:

  • The Playboy Club and Moon:
http://www.destination360.com/north-america/us/nevada/las-vegas/images/s/las-vegas-playboy-club.jpg

Playboy Club

Our first evening. Personally, I was not super keen on the idea of going there (Located in the Palms). A nightclub Playboy, "mouais" I said to myself, if it is to get together with the readers of this magazine (while imagining the old American bald and fat, perspiring in front of a pin-up disguised as rabbit) ... Having a power of persuasion apparently quite limited with my three friends, we enter the queue of the club.

Pulled up to the bouncers, we must leave our passports. They check that we have 21 years. At 25, it seems flattering! But no. It's just routine, in all places where alcohol is sold. So a council, to save time, prepare your passport, open to the page of your photo.

We arrived at a charming saleswoman at checkout. Re-verification of the passport, and $ 20 for entry. She sticks a stamp on his arm and explains that this allows us to enter two evenings. Ok Directorate the elevator, which brings us within a few seconds to about fifty floors above.

Large room full of slot machines and roulette. Shit, where's our box?! We take a drink, $ 12 cocktails. Of waitresses dressed in pink playboy rabbit run across. She is pretty but nothing more. Looks like Coluche, "Yes they are cute, good enough to be announcers, but they might well have been sellers of waffles!". It is still far from the pin-up magazine. Well we came to dance! We therefore ask the bartender "Hey uh ouai're Zair's Roume waire éveuribodi déne'se? ".

Finally we have to go down the elevator, board a team of bouncers, then climb by another elevator. The idea was to force us to go through a room "casino" to try to make us spend a little money. Hmm ... It's a walk! In short, we finally arrived in LA room, which is the Moon. And there ended the disappointments: A design worked, waitresses more than guns sexy outfits, and most importantly, a magnificent view of Las Vegas at night.

Moon

At the back of the room a beautiful terrace, spacious, on which many vacationers dressed chic admire the view and sip their cocktails. We are moving towards them. Surprise at the end of the terrace, the floor is transparent. The feeling of walking in space is not to go, but I have rarely seen one as beautiful carpets. The room fills with more and more, the MC up the sound ... and follows a pleasant evening.

We are initially surprised by the immobility of people. The music is loud, the full house, and yet, nobody moves. Regardless, we came to have fun: We Dance! This has the merit to entertain U.S. ... We know that we remain a short time in Las Vegas. Around 3am, we decide to change background: Back on the Strip.

  • The RockHouse:

Rockhouse

One reason will be enough to bring us into the RockeHouse: € 5 entry. The hotel does not look, but at this price point, we're getting. We realize immediately that we have radically changed environment. Chic outfits, we turn to baggy, sneakers, t-shirts. Classes of designs, and wanted us to spend mundane walls, black / gray a little dirty. A scantily clad Asian dancer sways in the middle of the room, in a huge tire attached to a chain. The advantage: everyone dances. What to do in the late evening if you want a little fun, but it is better to go in the many boxes classes of the city first.

  • Coyote Ugly:

Coyote Ugly

We have moved quickly in this bar, referring to the movie of the same name, in the early evening (19h). The principle: Waitresses in sexy outfits involve customers (men and women, all ages) in various games that let you earn free drinks. Not my kind of favorite bars, but some seemed to have fun.

  • The Beatles Revolution Lounge (Mirage)
http://www.bleedingneon.com/vegasinsight/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/revolution_bar.jpg

Beatles Revolution Lounge

Bar / box carefully designed, we had an early evening (22h - midnight) very nice. Class but casual atmosphere, perfect for a drink, and begin to dance on the floor in the early evening.

  • The Pure (the best!)
http://www.destination360.com/north-america/us/nevada/las-vegas/images/s/las-vegas-pure.jpg

Pure Nightclub

Nightclub at Caesar Palace hotel where we were staying, it is the clubs most spacious in the city where we went: 3 or 4 rooms downstairs (I remember getting a little old), and a large terrace, very nice, upstairs. In each room plays well on a different music. Of dance / cabaret are given in a room at set times. We spent two very pleasant evenings! In prices, this memory was correct, below Paris prices: $ 7 beer and $ 10 consos the 'hard'. "The Best"! :)

In May 2010 I returned to Las Vegas, where I still had a great evening:

  • The LAX
http://www.exploringlasvegas.com/nightclubs/lax/lax_nightclub_las_vegas.jpg

LAX Nightclub

For me the best night I spent in Las Vegas, but I must admit that I was in very good company. This may have affected my judgment :)
The box is not as great as the Pure, but the room is class 2 floors and the sound quality is. As I tried to focus only on the nightclub, I still say it's one of the best that I could go to the U.S.. Atmosphere much like the Duplex in Paris. Price level, it takes $ 10 for a classic consolidated, $ 15 for a vodka - redbull.

Noise in the stadium: The Vuvuzela

Vuvuzela

World Cup 2010: Boucan in the stands!

If you watched the football match France - Uruguay to the World Cup last night, you certainly have been annoyed by a horrible noise coming from the stands ... This hell sound has a name: Vuvuzela !

As you can read on Wikipedia, FIFA had planned to ban its use in stadiums for the 2010 World Cup. Indeed, the unbearable noise caused by these horns of the devil had already caused problems during the Confederation Cup in 2009. However, the SAFA (South African Football Association) has defended the vuvuzela, saying it was essential to the atmosphere of stadiums! (Ah ...)

Here! The good news is that if the France team loses too early in the competition, the consolation prize will no longer have to endure that damn racket!
